Frank Lampard of Chelsea FC made history when he scored the 100th goal scored at the Estadio Mestalla in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday 28th September 2011 against Valencia CF of Spain in a Group E match in the 2011/2012 season. He also has the honours of converting the 100th goal scored in the competition scored at Stamford Bridge, home of The Blues.

FC Barcelona of Spain are the most successful club in the competition's history, having won it on four occasions in 1979, 1982, 1989 and the 1997 one against Paris Saint Germain of France with a penalty goal from Ronaldo de Lima at the Feyenoord Stadion, Rotterdam. The UEFA Cup Winners' Cup was a seasonal association football competition contested between member associations of European football's governing body, who won their respective Domestic cup competitions which was rested in 1999.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain set a new record with his eighth-minute strike as he became the youngest Englishman in Arsenal FC’s history to score in the UEFA Champions League, beating team-mates Jack Wilshere and Theo Walcott in the process, as The Gunners defeated Olympiakos 2-1 in an entertaining evening at The Emirates.

The late Peter Osgood is one of Chelsea FC's finest player as he was nicknamed Wizard of Oz. In 1971, he was part of the Chelsea FC team that lifted the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup, defeating Real Madrid CF 2–1 in a replay at the Karaiskakis Stadium in Athens, after the original tie had finished 1–1, with Osgood scoring Chelsea's goal in that game. In the replay he scored again, the opener, as they went on to win 2–1.

DID YOU KNOW THE MOST FLAMBOYANT MEXICAN GOALKEEPER ALSO PLAYED AS AN ATTACKER?

Jorge Campos, the flamboyant Mexican goalkeeper who had 129 caps started his club career in 1988 in Mexico with Pumas. At that time the club's first-choice goalkeeper was Adolfo Rios but, because Campos desired first-team opportunities, he asked to be used as a striker. He performed notably in his first season, scoring 14 goals and even challenging for the title of top-goalscorer. In the following seasons he earned the position of first-choice goalkeeper and won the 1990-1991 championship with Pumas.


WHO HOLDS THE RECORD FOR MISSING 3 PENALTIES IN AN INTERNATIONAL MATCH?

Former Albaceleste of Argentina and Boca Juniors striker, Martin Palermo aka Loco is in the Guinness Book of World Records for missing three penalties for Argentina in a single international match against Colombia in the Copa América 1999. The first penalty rebounded off the crossbar; the second penalty went over; the third was saved by the Colombian goalkeeper, Miguel Calero.

 The fastest UEFA Champions League goal came from the Dutch striker Roy Makaay, who netted for Bayern Munich against Real Madrid in 2007 after 10.2 seconds. He took the record from Gilberto Silva, who scored after 20 seconds for Arsenal FC against PSV Eindhoven in 2002. Third on the list is Alessandro del Piero for Juventus against Manchester United in 1997 and in fourth came from Clarence Seedorf against Schalke 04 in 2005. Alexandre Pato's effort for AC Milan against the reigning champions FC Barcelona on September 13, 2011 came after 23 seconds. Remarkably that only put it fifth among the fastest goals in the competition.

He emerged Dutch Eredivisie League Top Scorer in 3 seasons 2000/2001, 2002/2003 and 2003/2004 in the 4 seasons he spent with PSV Eindhoven with his partnership with Flying Dutchman Arjen Robben.

WHERE IS THE ORIGINAL BIRTH PLACE OF FORMER FRENCH LEFT BACK BIXENTE LIZARAZU?

Bixente Lizarazu the dimunitive French left back of Basque descent won 6 Bundesliga championships with Bayern Munich, as well as five German Cups, 1 UEFA Champions League in 2001 and the Intercontinental Cup also in 2001 in two spells. During his second spell with Bayern Munich in 2005 and 2006, Lizarazu wore the shirt number 69. Clarifying that it wasn't a lewd gesture, he said this was because he was born in 1969, his height is 1.69m and he weighed 69 kg.


DID YOU KNOW THE FIRST ITALIAN CLUBSIDE TO BUILD AND OWN THEIR STADIUM?

Juventus Turin is the first Italian club to build and own their stadium. The Juventus Staium is an all-seater association football stadium in the Valette borough of Turin, Piedmont. It was built on the site of Juventus's and Torino's former home, Stadio delle Alpi which cost €100 million. It was opened at the start of the 2011/2012 season and has a capacity of 41,000 spectators.

The opening ceremony of the stadium was held on 8 September 2011, with an historical exhibition match against Notts County, the club they share the same jersey colour with since 1903. The game ended 1-1 with goals from Luca Toni  for Juventus and Lee Hughes coming in the second half for County. In return, Notts County have extended an invitation to Juventus for a return match at Meadow Lane in 2012 to celebrate County's 150th anniversary.

Eusébio da Silva Ferreira emerged top scorer in the England 1966 FIFA World Cup finals with 9 goals, (6 of which were scored at Goodison Park) and also receiving the Bronze Ball award in the process. He is commonly known as Eusébio and helped the Portuguese national team reach third place. He won the Ballon d'Or award in 1965 and was runners-up in 1962 and 1966.

DID YOU KNOW THE ASTON VILLA PLAYER THAT SCORED ENGLAND'S WINNING GOAL AGAINST BELGIUM IN THE ITALIA 90 FIFA WORLD CUP?

The quintessential goal scoring midfield player David Platt scored 27 goals in 62 caps for the Three Lions of England, but was given his first cap by the late Bobby Robson in an International Friendly against the Azzuris of Italy in November 1989 when he was still with Aston Villa. He was included in the England squad when Robson named his 22 player-squad for the Italia 90 FIFA World Cup. He however open his scoring account for the Three Lions in the last minute of extra time during the second round match against the  les Diables Rouges (Red Devils ) of Belgium.

Cristiano Ronaldo became Manchester United FC's first-ever Portuguese player when he signed for £12.24 million after the 2002–03 season from Sportin Lisbon after defeating Manchester United FC 3–1 in the inauguration of the Estádio José Alvalade in Lisbon for the Euro 2004 UEFA European Championship that was held in Portugal. Ronaldo's performance impressed the Manchester United FC players, who urged Sir Alex Ferguson to sign him.





DID YOU KNOW THE REAL ZARAGOZA PLAYER THAT DENIED ARSENAL FC DEFENDING THEIR UEFA CUP WINNERS CUP TITLE IN 1995?

In the final minute of extra time (timed at 119:16), Real Zaragoza of Spain played Arsenal FC on May 10, 1995 in the final of the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup with the match heading to penalties, a spectacular 40-yard shot from Real Zaragoza's Mohammed Ali Amar aka Nayim cleared Arsenal FC goalkeeper David Seaman, winning the cup for Real Zaragoza and denying the Gunners the defence of their title. Despite Nayim being at least 15 yards inside the Arsenal FC half and not being able to see it on camera, the goal is often incorrectly referred to as a goal from the half-way line.

In December 26, 1999, Chelsea FC managed by Gianluca Vialli made history in a English Premier League (EPL) match away against Southampton at The Dell – it was the first time an English league side had fielded a starting eleven without a single British player.  Their line up include Ed De Goey (Dutch), Dan Petrescu (Romanian), Emerson Thome (Brazilian), Frank Leboeuf (French), Celestine Babayaro (Nigerian), Albert Ferrer (Spanaird), Didier Deschamps (French), Gustavo Poyet (Uruguay), Roberto Di Matteo (Italian), Gabriele Ambrosetti (Italian) and Torre Andre Flo (Norwegian).

Roberto Boninsegna of Inter Milan was the first person to be yellow carded in a UEFA Champions Cup final on the 31st May 1972. Boninsegna scored the Azzuris of Italy's only goal (though at the time it was an important equaliser) in the Mexico 1970 FIFA World Cup final against the Selecao of Brazil, which Italy ultimately lost 4–1 to arguably the Greatest Team that ever played soccer. Remarkably, Jens Lehman formerly of Arsenal FC was the first player to be sent off with a red card in the final match against Ronaldinho's FC Barcelona during the 2005 edition in Paris.

No single player has, nor is ever likely to, repeat the impact that attacking midfielder Michel Platini had on Euro'84.  After his spectacular showing at the Italia 90 FIFA World Cup, Roberto Baggio Il Divin Codino (The Divine Ponytail), was sold to Juventus F.C. from Fiorentina for a then record fee of £8 million amid outcry from Fiorentina fans which led to full scale riots on the streets of Florence and 50 people were injured. Baggio replied to his fans saying: "I was compelled to accept the transfer". In the match he played for Juventus against Fiorentina in 1990, he refused to take a penalty; and when substituted, he picked up a Florence Scarf kissed it and threw it into the field for the fans. Mark Lawrenson was the only English born player in Liverpool F.C.'s starting line-up in the 1986 English FA Cup final played at the prestigious Wembley Stadium. It ended with the Reds defeating neighbours Everton F.C. 3-1 in the first and still the only English FA Cup final Merseyside derby that had Gary Linekar opening scoring. He played a total of 241 games and scored 11 goals for the Merseyside outfit from 1981 - 1988.

The record was actually set 107 years ago when they played at Bank Street in Clayton; a ground less than half a mile from Manchester City's current ground.

Against Deportivo La Corona in a Spanish Primera Liga at the Estadio Riazor in August 2002, he scored a spectacular 40-yard freekick with his weaker left foot which proceeded to strike the woodwork in no less than three occasions, The match ended 4-2 in favour of the Andalusians.

IS GIOVANNI TRAPATTONI THE MOST SUCCESSFUL CLUB MANAGER IN ITALIAN FOOTBALL?

Giovanni Trapattoni aka Trap is one of the most successful Italian club manager of all time. In 8 years from 1978 - 1986, he guided the Old Lady of Turin Juventus F.C. to the Toyota Intercontinental Cup (now FIFA World Club Cup), UEFA Champions Cup (now UEFA Champions League), UEFA Cup Winners Cup and UEFA Cup (all now merged as the UEFA Europa League), UEFA Super Cup, 7 Italian Serie A calcios and 2 Coppa Italia. He recently claim he turn down an offer to rejoin the club to stay put as Manager of the Republic of Ireland.

Andoni Zubizarreta, the legendary Spanish and F.C. Barcelona goalkeeper is still the most capped player for the La Furia Roja with 127 which started on 23rd of January 1985, in a 3–1 friendly victory over Finland. It ended on the 24th of June, 1998 in their last France 98 FIFA World Cup Group D game against the Лъвовете (The Lions) of Bulgaria in Lens after an infamous blunder in his first match against the Super Eagles of Nigeria that led to a shock defeat. Former Super Eagles skipper, Stephen Okechukwu Keshi fondly called The Big Boss made his debut for the then Green Eagles of Nigeria as a substitute for Christian Chukwu in a Espana 82 FIFA World Cup qualifier against the Desert Warriors of Algeria in 1981 which ended in a 0-2 home defeat at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
