Claudio Pizarro having scored the equalising goal for Werder Bremen against Mainz on Saturday October 29th, 2011, notched up his 150th goals in the German Bundesliga. This make him the all-time leading foreign-born goalscorer having played for Werder Bremen and Bayern Munich from 1999 to date (except his spell with Chelsea FC from 2007-2009).

Brazilian goal poacher Aílton Gonçalves da Silva popularly known as Aílton was selected in 2004 as the first foreigner to win the prestigious  Fußballer des Jahres (German Footballer of the Year) award after emerging top goalscorer in the German Bundesliga with 28 goals in the 2003/2004 season while playing for Werder Bremen who won the double.
