Mervyn Day at 19 years old in the 1974/1975 old English Division One season for West Ham United, became the only goalkeeper to have won the PFA Young Player of the Year Award. His first season with Manchester United was uneventful, with domestic honours eluded him until the 1983 English FA Cup final against Brighton & Hove Albion at Wembley Stadium before he scored his 5th goal in the match that ended 2-2 which required a 4-0 replay win for the Red Devils to clinch the coveted trophy.
