Orlando Pirates also known as the Buccaneers beat ASEC Mimosas of Cote d'Ivoire in the 1995 final while Mamelodi Sundowns lost to Al-Ahly of Egypt in the 2001 final.
Wydad Athletic Club (WAC) popularly called Wydad Casablanca of Morocco in 1992 won the 27th edition of the African Cup of Champions Clubs now known as the CAF Champions League defeating Al-Hilal of Sudan 2-0 over two legs that had great players like Noureddine Naybet, Rachid Daoudi and Senegalese Moussa Ndaw. The club was founded on May 8th 1937.
