DO YOU THE PLAYER THAT SCORED THE FIRST PENALTY KICK IN A FIFA WORLD CUP FINAL MATCH?



Johan Neeskens of the Netherlands while playing club football for AFC Ajax Amsterdam, scored the first ever penalty kick in a FIFA World Cup final match against West Germany in Munich during the West Germany 1974 FIFA World Cup only after two minutes which his team eventually lost 1-2 to two Gerd Muller's goals.

Neeskens was capped 49 times for his country, scoring 17 goals. He made his debut against East Germany in 1970, and played a crucial role in the West Germany 1974 and Argentina 1978 FIFA World Cups, playing in central midfield.

DO YOU KNOW THE CLUB JAN VERTONGHEN MOVED FROM WHEN HE ARRIVED AJAX AMSTERDAM YOUTH ACADEMY IN 2003?

Jan Vertonghen after spending time at VK Tielrode and Germinal Beerschot in his native Belgium, he moved to the Netherlands and signed a contract with the youth academy of Dutch Eredivisie side Ajax Amsterdam in 2003. 

After the winter break of 2006, he was sent on loan to struggling RKC Waalwijk for the remainder of the season. At RKC Waalwijk he would play 12 matches in which he scored three times, but he was unable to help them avoid relegation to the Dutch EersteDivisie. Vertonghen was also selected for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games football tournament and played in every match as the Belgians unexpectedly took fourth place.

While with AFC Ajax Amsterdam, 21 years old Aron Winter wore the number 5 jersey for the Oranje (Netherlands national football team) that won the UEFA Euro 1988 Championship hosted by West Germany, but did not play in any of the five matches. They beat U.S.S.R. 2-0 in the final played at the Olympiastadion in Munich with Ruud Gullit and Marco van Basten the scorers.

AT WHAT AGE DID DENNIS BERGKAMP MADE HIS EUROPEAN DEBUT FOR AFC AJAX AMSTERDAM?

Dennis Bergkamp made his European debut for AFC Ajax Amsterdam under Johan Cruyff aged 17 against FF Malmo of Sweden on 3rd of March, 1987 in the quarter final 1st. leg in Malmo of the defunct UEFA Cup Winners Cup. Regardless of his phobia for traveling by air, he had to fly out to Sweden on the day of the match, after sitting for school examinations the previous afternoon which his team lost by a goal to nil, but still won the cup. He played 239 matches and scored 122 goals for his home town club till 1993.
