DO YOU KNOW THE FIRST PLAYER TO CAPTAIN THE WINNING CLUB IN BOTH THE SCOTTISH CUP AND THE ENGLISH FA CUP?
Elegant and cultured defender, Martin Buchan is the first and only player to captain the winning team in both the Scottish Cup and the English FA Cup finals. At the age of 20, Buchan was handed the captain’s armband of Aberdeen, his boyhood club and he enjoyed early success, leading the Dons to victory in the Scottish Cup Final of 1970 – the youngest player ever to do so. He also captained Manchester United to win the 1977 English FA Cup final against Liverpool, which they won 2–1 at Wembley Stadium.
