Tottenham Hotspur were
the current English First Division champions on 6th February 1952 when King George
VI died and Queen Elizabeth II became Britain's Monarch.
Spurs had won the
1950/1951 English First Division ahead of Manchester United (who would be
1951/1952 champions), Blackpool and Newcastle United.
During the final of UEFA Euro 96 tournament held in England, Queen Elizabeth II attended her first football match since England 1966 FIFA World Cup final match at Wembley Stadium where she handed Jurgen Klinsmann the captain of Germany, the Henri Delaunay Trophy after they defeated Czech Republic 2-1.
