Lilian Laslandes scored 12 goals in the 1995/1996 AJ Auxerre team tutored by the legendary Guy Roux that won the double of the French Ligue 1 and Coupe de France titles.
It was their first league title and it was their second Coupe de France title. AJ Auxerre was founded in 1905 and made its debut in the first division of French football in the 1980/1981 season and have remained a fixture in the league until 2011/2012 season when they got relegated.
Stéphane Guivarc'h is the first player to finish topscorer in two consecutive French Ligue 1 seasons but with two different clubsides. At Stade Rennes in the 1996/1997 season he scored 22 goals in 36 appearances while in the previous season with AJ Auxerre under the legendary Guy Roux, he scored 21 goals in 32 appaerances.
In 1961, A.J. Auxerre appointed the legendary Guy Roux as their coach at the tender age of 22 because he had the smallest wage demands of all the applicants while still a player with then Championnat National (third division) club. After 44 years in charge of the club, Roux retired from managing A.J. Auxerre in June 2005 to be replaced by Jacques Santini.
