Jamie Pollock scored a spectacular, but funny own-goal that condemned Manchester City to relegation to the third tier for the first time in 1998, whilst keeping Queens Park Rangers (QPR) in the division. As a result, a group of QPR fans thanked him by voting him the "most influential man of the past 2,000 years" in an internet poll, where "Jesus'' came second, apparently. Pollock remarked afterwards: "It was cruel of QPR fans to vote for me because that own goal was the lowest point of my career, but I certainly had a laugh when I heard about the poll."
