Frank de Boer supplied the 60 yard pass to Dennis Bergkamp, as his sublime strike for the Oranje of the Netherlands in the 89th minutes knocked the Albaceleste of Argentina out of the France 1998 FIFA World Cup in the Quarter Finals at the Stade Vélodrome in Marseille.

With 145 caps so far, Javier Zanetti captain of Inter Milan holds the record of the most capped player in the history of the Albaceleste, the Argentine national team. DO YOU KNOW THE FIRST EVER PLAYER TO BE DISMISSED IN A FIFA WORLD CUP FINAL MATCH?


The Italia 1990 FIFA World Cup between Germany and Argentina which took place at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome witnessed the first ever dismissal in a final when Argentina's Pedro Monzon was sent off in the 65th minutes for a foul on Jürgen Klinsmann. The game also witnessed a second red card when in the closing moments, the Albaceleste were reduced to nine men after Gustavo Dezotti received the second red card of the game when he hauled Jürgen Kohler to the ground during a stoppage in play.

WHO HOLDS THE RECORD FOR MISSING 3 PENALTIES IN AN INTERNATIONAL MATCH?

Former Albaceleste of Argentina and Boca Juniors striker, Martin Palermo aka Loco is in the Guinness Book of World Records for missing three penalties for Argentina in a single international match against Colombia in the Copa América 1999. The first penalty rebounded off the crossbar; the second penalty went over; the third was saved by the Colombian goalkeeper, Miguel Calero.
