Fabio Capello |
The first time the Azzurris of Italy conquered the Three Lions of England, (the so called “inventors”of football) on their home soil at the Wembley Stadium was on November 11, 1973 in an international friendly match.
The only goal of the game was scored by Fabio Capello in the 87th minute with the aid of Peter Shilton, who could only parry out a powerful Giorgio Chinaglia cross
and the former England Coach was on hand to sidefoot the ball home and
send hundreds of Italian waiters in London home happy.
