Roberto Palacios who played as a midfielder mostly for Sporting Cristal, which was the club he started his career won the most caps for the La Blanquirroja (The White and Red) National Football Team of Peru with 128 caps from 1992, scoring 19 goals in the process.
He retired from the Peruvian team on May 25, 2012 against the Super Eagles of Nigeria in Lima in an international friendly they won 1-0.
