WHICH EPL CLUBSIDE WAS THE FIRST TO FIELD A TEAM WITHOUT A SINGLE BRITISH PLAYER?
In December 26, 1999, Chelsea FC managed by Gianluca Vialli made history in a English Premier League (EPL) match away against Southampton at The Dell – it was the first time an English league side had fielded a starting eleven without a single British player. Their line up include Ed De Goey (Dutch), Dan Petrescu (Romanian), Emerson Thome (Brazilian), Frank Leboeuf (French), Celestine Babayaro (Nigerian), Albert Ferrer (Spanaird), Didier Deschamps (French), Gustavo Poyet (Uruguay), Roberto Di Matteo (Italian), Gabriele Ambrosetti (Italian) and Torre Andre Flo (Norwegian).
