Edinson "El Matador" Cavani, the Uruguayan international striker who scored 26 league goals for SSC Napoli in the 2010/2011 season, became the first Italian Serie A player to claim the match ball for scoring a hat-trick in a week 2 match of the 2011/2012 season against defending champion A.C. Milan at the Stadio San Paolo in Naples – a long-standing tradition in Britain but recently introduced in Italy.
